Was missing out on fishing for quite awhile and I was on my pre ORD vacation at Bandung when I received a rather surprising post on my facebook wall. Gave the bugger who posted it a call (overseas) and screwed him upside down for landing a sizeable ray on surf before I did. Elfie a.k.a Elfred Jeggings was very much as surprise (as I was reacting to the picture) when he reeled in the fish. First thoughts running through his mind was a tonner tyre and he almost gave up to snip his line. Luckily Faisal was there to encourage him to pump the tonner-like culprit out from the depths. When a 4kg brown stingray finally emerged both of them were screaming with joy and enjoying the moment. Took a couple of shots and posted it on my wall. The part where I was pissed was that I was stuck in Bandung and couldn't be there to share the moment. But still it was trip labelled as Perfecto!!

I was missing out on this trip due to work commitments.Received a call from them at around noon as they gave me the good news of landing two barramundi at the usual spot. My regular kakis Faisal and Elfie were involved this time round. Faisal managed to land the first barramundi on some other anglers rod. Apparently, the angler gave Faisal the luxury of battling the bugger for him and both parties were glad that a healthy 1kg barramundi was safely brought up. A few hours later, Faisal rod made a dive and this time he made sure it wasn't a miss giving his trademark pump to set the hook. Finally a barramundi to call his own as the last one on the previous trip was idioticly but accidently released by yours truly, me. Everyone was happy, Elfie who was although emptyhanded still patiently waiting for his first barramundi. The first barramundi pic not taken.

Barra Paradise Part 3

Date: Sometime in June 2010

Fine day for fishing. As usual me and my regular kaki Faisal proceed to Changi to stock up on bait. Arrived at our spot at around 10 plus am. Set up our gears and made our first cast. Weather was really hot though as we gulp down our ice cold drinks every now and then. Perserverance and patience in the blistering heat paid off when my rod gave a bend. Quickly grabbed it and set the hook. The second I pumped my rod the majestic Barramundi emerge from the water and made one of its acrobatic leaps in attempts to throw off my hook. It's attempts failed however as I got the situation under control. Landed the beauty and weigh it and it was registered at 2kgs flat. Next action came from Faisal rod, as a fiesty Barra also gave a strong run, however was later subdued coming in at 1kg. Tired and sweaty, we left the spot at 5pm feeling very satisfied.

Met my fellow regulars at changi in the morning to stock up on supplies before our trip. Took the usual bumboat ride to Barra Island and off we set to the usual spot. Weather was scorching hot that day. Nevertheless we carried on our pursuit for the prized barramundi. It was around noon and the sun was high up. Terry and Kimberly left the spot for awhile to get some drinks and left me in-charge of all the rods. As I was busy minding my own business trying to get the heat off my mind, I took a peek at my rod. The line was awkwardly tight with a slight bend at the tip as if I had a snag at the end of the line. I made the decision to give a pump and reel in the line. There was a bit of weight to it but no fight. Expecting a branch or a plastic bag to emerge, instead a decent sized mudcrab was actually the culprit. Unhooked the rather agitated fellow and tied it up. Abt half and hour later and my two other kakis were still not back yet. Once again while minding my own business I could hear a screaming reel coming from one of the rods. "ZzZZZzzzzz!!!!" goes Terry rod as it was bending into a U shape. This was my chance and I dashed to the rod and gave a slight pump. Fish ON!! It was also a fighter. The fish kept swimming left and right before breaking the surface of the water. With no one to assist I had to bend down to the edge of the water and pull the fish on land. Mission accomplished. A healthy 1kg plus Barramundi landed. Called the kakis and they hurriedly made their way to my location to see what all the fuss was about. Took a shot with the prize. My first battle with a wild Barra for 2010. Truly epic!

Barra Paradise Part 1

Due to busy schedules in NS finally managed to meet up the pioneer kaki of this blog, Fariz on 29th May 2010. Met at changi at 8am to get live "ammunition" before heading to location via bumboat. Upon landing we each rented a bicycle and headed to a spot we never tried before. The day started very slow with occasional bites from catfishes.Towards the end of the day at abt 5.30pm, the tide was receeding and Fariz decided to cast near some mangrove trees. This time he held on to his rod to sense any form of bite. Instead of getting just a nibble, a predator had taken his bait in a split sec and made a dash for the mangrove. At this point, Fariz was already on hand to guide the fish out of the snag zone. Seconds later the predator emerge from the depths and leaping out of the water flaunting its acrobatic attempts to get loose. Excitement filled our minds as its been awhile since I and Fariz seen a wild Barramundi landed. Pictures snapped and off Fariz go making his 2nd attempt at the same spot. The next thing that happened surprised both of us because as soon as the sinker touched the bottom, Fariz rod made a bend. Fariz who this time was totally caught by surprised rushed to his rod and pulled in a smaller barra than before. It was getting late and we didn't want to miss the boat so we cycled off and leaving a potentially good spot. 2/2 hits for Fariz and zero fighter for me. Congrats to bro Fariz on an epic fishing trip.

This trip was planned days ago as Pasir Ris Park was hit by the marine catfish frenzy/season. It was 31th of March, a day after my birthday. Me, Andre and Faisal met at my v/deck at 2plus am after checking the perfect tide to hunt for these voracious catfishes. Armed with our rods, reel and dead prawns as ammunition we drove off to the battle zone near to WB 13, Pasir Ris Park. On arrival, tide was at 0.1m and going up slowly. We set up and made our first cast. Within 5 mins of wait, I got first blood when my rod made a bend.I reeled in with ease the first marine catfish of the night. Next up was Faisal, receiving the same action on his rod. The activity was non stop for 3hrs straight with fish after fish being hauled up. A total of 13 duri was subdued by two anglers in 3hrs. The only setback was that Andre was the unlucky one as he turned out zero fighter that night.

Anyway, let's begin where I left off somewhere in 2010. It was the year i broke my personal record for catching barramundis. Along the way i met new kakis sharing the same addiction as I do. Went on a boat trip with my dad and uncles on saturday night, eve of national day. The water wasn't that good but we managed to haul up a couple of decent fish. My dad struck first with a 2kg kaci followed by one of uncle who battled a really big conger eel (malong emas). He got the fish on board but unfortunately it escaped by jumping out right after dehooking. Dad caught a 500g red snapper and a different uncle caught another kaci weighing 500g also. After that we caught a 2kg threadfin and a 2.5kg ladyfish. An average boat trip but still a successful one.

Went to east coast last night with my old bud Shang. We planned to catch up and get on for some fishing action. So we proceeded to a random water breaker and started setting up . We were completely oblivious to what to happen next...The tide was rising pretty fast...Hmm..A good sign for fishing. However, as soon as we turned our backs, we realised the water breaker was already surrounded with water. We felt !@#$^&* stranded. Eventually we went down the back of the WB to get to shore. And guess what...The water was at chest level! Upon reaching shore totally drenched, I realised my damn phone got wet and of course gone case. Shang apparently slipped on the rocks and got a deep cut on his foot. Looks really painful. With 300g of live prawns, I left the spot while Shang went back with his buddy to tend to his injuries.

I took taxi home and called my cousin Dre if he wanted to go pond. Better news, my dad was home which meant I get to drive to farmway for more fishing. So i took a quick shower, got the keys, pick up my cousin and drove off to farmway. It was fun first time driving as a license holder. So I parked the car outside, paid the cash and started fishing. It took us 2 long hours of waiting before Dre hauled up 1kg plus MJ. The fight looked pretty good with the fish stripping the line off the spool now and then. After that no more action. We saw a freaking huge grouper right in front of us but it didn't want our bait. Shortly after that, a guy came with a floater hooked with a small japanese fish. 10 secs and barm! The fat grouper was hooked he fought the fish for a solid 5 mins before Dre help scoop it up. The guy was worried it was 5kg but to his relieve it was just 4.2kg which means CnK (Catch and Keep). Not been updating the blog lately. Have been going fishing but too busy with ns stuff including my driving lessons. Had my TP test a few weeks ago. What a disappointment it was..40pts and 1 immediate failure. Had my retest this wk and luckily it went well. 18 pts is still a pass. Now that I have my license, fishing would be much easier and perhaps unexplored locations might already be within reach. Just need to fork out money for petrol...bummer. (Btw I got my license under police NPCO course thats why i got my retest within a week)

Back to basics once again with me and Fred as we had some light fishing action in the late afternoon of saturday. We hunkered down and prepared our gears in between wb 13 and 14. Equipped with g loomis and figo rods plus paternoster rigs, we cast away. The evening started out with a few hookups of the local resident catfishes. I moved on to using floater later on and almost landed a big one when my whole dead prawn was pulled in. The fish unfortunately didn't swallow the bait whole and escaped. At abt 11pm, we decided to move to wb 13 as the tide receeded. Fred who was awaiting his catch after a long time wasn't disappointed on his 2nd cast. The fish took the bait seconds after the sinker touch the seabed. After a short struggle, the fish surrendered and reveal its identity to be a decent size sweetlips. This is Fred's 2nd sweetlip and what a way to get it. Kudos to you bro. We packed up and left at 1plus am. Congrats once again Fred!

Pasir ris beach : between breaker 14 & 13

Got a last minute call last night to go fishing with my best bud Faisal. We rendezvous under Faisal block with a bike each at around 11pm. As we arrived we didn't see many anglers around and that night was pretty quiet and great for fishing. We set up our gears without hesitation and began casting out. We got a few bites at the beginning but there were no hookups. The first and only decent fish brought up for the night was from my Gloomis Gladiator rod and it was a sembilang. Its been quite awhile since i've witness myself or even anyone reeling in a sembilang. Probably the species is becoming endangered. Who knows...haha. Shortly after that, Faisal brought up a few decent sized usat which was cnred. The trip ended with breakfast at kopitiam and we were off back home.

This trip to punggol was an overnight one consisting of our usual kaki Andre, Ikmal and not forgetting the more experienced surfcasters which is Ikmal's dad and his uncle. The night started out with Andre reeling in a Pari Nyiru before Pak Su hauled up a good sized Duri. Quite a number of fishes was also caught through net casting included tambans,keke,kapas2 and an unexpected unga tanda. The trip was a fruitful one especially with professional surfcasters around to help when u need them.

This trip happened 3 nights ago with my usual kakis.We came at low tide and casted our bait which was peeled prawns. In my first cast I gt double hookups of a flower crab and puffer. Puffer was released of course. As the tide was starting rise back, we moved to wb 14. That was the time my buddy caught a fat Blukang around a 1kg I guess. At around 12 plus, another one of my bud, Faisal had a bend on his 6 foot rod. We were surprised to find an orange spotted grouper at the other end of the line. Satisfied with the catch we packed up and left for home. Well done Faisal!

This trip was about a month ago. Location was wb at the mouth of sungei api-api. The usual bros decided to chill while doing some light fishing. Bait used this time was sliced fish meat. As we were lighting our cigarettes and chatting about life, my bud Faris had a strong pull on his line. Since he was holding on to his rod all this while, he pumped the rod and started reeling in. There was a huge splash in the water at quite a distance so we expected something good at the end of the line. Faris passed me the rod to continue the fight since it was his first experience. After about 5 minutes, a nice kbl was landed. Once again this really gave us quite a surprise. Congrats to my bro Faris to break his rod's virginity to a barramundi.

This time the bros include Faisal and another friend at our usual spot. The bite rates were pretty slow most likely due to the bad weather. As dusk was approaching, Faisal had to leave to meet his gf. So it was just 2 of us left waiting for a bite. Suddenly my rod started to sway a little which made my anxious feelings get the better of me. I held my rod awaiting a bite. Then...a strong bite came in, reeled in for about a minute and a decent sized Ornate Threadfin Bream a.k.a Kerisi was hauled up. Its been awhile since i reeled up a sea bream and this time it was much bigger than my previous one. Once again it lifted our spirits, telling us that Pasir Ris can be very unpredictable after all.

Pasir Ris Breaker 14

Its off to Pasir Ris again...Being the nearest fishing spot around, me and the two other crew members met up around 4pm and left for Pasir Ris Beach. We casted our rods at our usual secret spot first before night falls. Since the tide was low, only juvenile fishes were caught but they were of the wanted species: Emperor snapper,Grunter and Croaker. As the skies grew darker and the mozzies were on a blood rampage, we packed up while scratching our legs now on then to soothe the itchiness. We then hunker down at wb 14 and set up our gears before casting. Our empty stomachs were constantly growling and in the end it was Mcdelivery to the rescue. Me and one of the crew left the scene to pick up the food from carpark E. During that period, one of our rods which had no stand was supported by a bicycle fell over with the bicycle. First thoughts was a big fish at the other end of the line. So, the rod was pumped and 1 minute later a good sized painted sweet lip a.k.a kaci was brought up. All of us were surprised by the potentials of Pasir Ris and planned on another trip the following week. Well done bros!

Went fishing with a friend yesterday night for about a few hours. My friend landed the first decent sized grouper ever. I fouled hooked a pretty long half beak as well. It seems that light fishing does the trick most of the time.

The day for Faiz's birthday surprise finally came and everyone who knew the plan was as enthusiastic as ever except for the bdae boy/mat of course. Amira,Shawn and Bdae boy/mat reached punggol mrt 5 mins earlier than the rest to meet up with Mimi. Aidil,Fahmi and Dinie came soon after that. We boarded the shuttle bus and we were off counting every second until we reach the destination of the year which was Marina Country Club. The Bdae boy/mat finally found out and was quite overwhelmed by what lies ahead. The first boat trip of our lives with no guardians and just a bunch of close friends ran through everyone's mind of course. For anglers like Dinie, Aidil and Shawn, it was an opportunity to tap into the potentials of the vast ocean( an exaggeration indeed!). We were having the time of our lives as the fibreglass boat driven by Uncle Raju sped past our locals shores from Punggol to the end of Changi. When the anchor was firstly decended to the seabed, most of us got seasick due to the excessive rocking. Faiz the Bdae boy/mat was as usual acting hero although he was feeling quesy inside. He ended sleeping throughout the whole trip. We drop our lines near some breakwater and there was plenty of small fishes for cheap thrills. Even Mimi was up for some angling action. In an hour or two, Uncle Raju decided to change spot. Everyone was excited when Uncle Raju said " Lets go Ubin there..Got big fishes there." We were told to use long leader lines with live prawns to catch the big ones. Dinie missed the first one as he loosen too much of his drag and the line snapped. The next one didn't get away as Dinie reeled up a decent size chocolate hind. Our time was almost up and we were left with 10 mins. That was when the surprise of the day popped up. Amira was screaming for help as the rod she was holding had a strong signal. Uncle Raju helped reel it up. A big ungah tanda was subdued and was catch of the day. The trip was very much fulfilling although the unforgiving seas exposed one of many hidden weaknesses.

Have not been updating for the past few weeks due to preparations for Hari Raya and school. 2 weeks ago, the crew went to punggol river to try our luck. As usual we reached there around 10am. In this trip, the floater produced more rewards compared to the sinking method. While we were busy with catching gobies and tilapias at the banks, a big splash was detected somewhere in the middle of the river. Then, Haziq's rod gave a bend shortly after the splash. We expected a duri or a gemang to be at the end of the line but to our surprise it was a decent size ladyfish a.k.a ikan parang. Later that afternoon, Elfie landed a flower crab while plenty of CnR had to be done for the usats we caught. The members involved were Faisal, Elfie, Fred, Izzat, Haziq and Dinie.

This trip was on the 14th of September. The crew this time consisting of Andre,Shairul,Faisal and Dinie met up at punggol plaza at around 9am before heading to the usual spot. The day started with scorching hot weather as we casted our rod and awaiting the bites. We casted a floater to catch fishes near the rocks and were rewarded. It began to be a good day as Shairul's rod gave a good bend within a few minutes of casting. Soon after, the 1kg gemang was subdued. A few minutes later, Andre's rod was giving in weak vibrations as it sway back and forth. Trying out his luck, he pumped his abu garcia,commodore to find a bigger gemang at the end of his line. The fishes were kept in a net and was put in the water. Unfortunately after 3 hours or so, Dinie went to check the net to discover a huge gash in the net probably due to rubbing of sharp rocks in the water's edge. One of the gemang escaped with a few other fishes. The bigger gemang luckily got its giant head stuck in between the hole and its attempt of escaping failed. Although such an unexpected occurrence happened, we were still content with the catch. Btw, its great fishing with Shairul again. Cheers bro.

First day of Ramadan and we were already itching to try a new spot at Yishun. Haziq, Elfie and Dinie arrived at 10 plus. We started to cast our kelong sotong in hopes of biggies..The first cast didn't let Dinie down as his rod was starting to bend again since the encounter with the siakap. As the fish was brought near to the breaker, a 1kg plus Blukang surfaced. Fortunately the leader line snapped as Dinie didn't intend to keep the fish. Next, Haziq reeled in another Blukang which was quickly released. The weather was not in our favour as it started to rain now and then. At the end of the trip Elfie's rod which missed quite a few started to bend as well. Within a few minutes a 1kg plus duri was subdued. After surveying the new spot for the first time, the comment is that it was potentially good taking into consideration the weather and the tide. Thanks to Menglong for sharing with us tips on the spot. We appreciate the help! Hope we can go fishing together some day...

This fishing trip before the month of Ramadan consisted of Fariz,Dinie,Elfie,Faisal,Taufiq Kong,Haziq and our new kaki Faisal. We decided to stay in the east this time at pasir ris beach and tried a spot that used to be good a few years back. That particular saturday was scorching hot as the those who reached the spot first already start to hallucinate after a few hours due to the unbearable heat ( ask Faisal because he was the worst.Haha.). During that time the fish weren't even nibbling. Faisal, our newest kaki was satisfied with his first catch of an usat. Congrats for a slow but good start. A few minutes later Fariz arrived with the liquid of life! Bottles of cold mineral water! Bless u Faris. As the rest arrived everything continued to be slow. Bite rates didn't change until we changed spot as the tide was receeding. Faris was first to get some action as he reeled in a good size pinang2. Next, Dinie and Elfie reeled in a duri belalang each. As Elfie left for home, an uncle who fixed a net in the water gave us a total of 9 Scats,1 orange spotted grouper,1 toadfish and a few catfishes.The pics for that will be uploaded soon!

Prelim is finally over! Time for holidays/studybreak...This time the crew planned on a trip to Pulau Ubin, a bbq/angling fiesta! We tried a new spot which was known by the locals as Aik Hwa since we've been hearing stories of ppl landing good fishes there. The morning started out rough with heavy downpour. After the rain the fishes seem so quiet that not even one of our 10 rods gave any obvious signals. Pest like usats that are always plentiful only got hooked up twice. A few hours before the van picked us up Haziq,Dinie and Elfie decided to leave the rest and try out Sungei Puaka. As soon as we made the first cast, the rods start to bend like mad. As we were anticipating the arrival of the fish, the identity of the fish was still a mystery until Elfie brought up a 1kg plus Blukang. Decent size but not decent species of catfish though. This followed by Haziq who reeled in another Blukang at 2kg. Next another of our buddy, Yee Chien arrived to bring pliers. He didn't miss out the action as he reeled in another blukang which was smaller then the first two. Lousy day at Ubin but the experience with friends is still a memorable one. Pasir Ris Beach

This trip happened today as Dinie and Taufiq a.k.a Usat Man were god damn bored. So it was 4hrs of relaxation and angling time to soothe the boredom. The only fish worth bringing home was a flounder a.k.a sisa nabi which was caught by Dinie. Taufiq lived up to his name by catching a baby usat and a baitfish. No hard feelings mate. Don't worry man...one day u'll catch a record breaking one such that catching usat will no longer be a laughing matter.

SAF Yacht Club Revisited

This trip which consisted of Dinie,Haziq and Siva happened on the 3rd of august next to SAF yacht club. We met up and started fishing at about 12am until 4am. Although Haziq didn't manage to break his fall when he slipped on the slippery breaker, he managed to break the silence for that night by landing a duri and a gelama consecutively. As we were about to leave some friendly chinese guy gave us a 1kg plus gemang which was brought home by Haziq.

Haven't been updating the blog lately so here are the cr's that hav been piling up. First and foremost would be the boat fishing trip that Dinie's dad went on. He came home with a 3.5 kg sandray and an ungah tanda. He said he gave away the groupers he caught to the people who wasn't that lucky on that day.Here are the pics.

BARRAMUNDI LANDED!!!!

A celebration night for the crew as the first Barramundi a.k.a Siakap was landed to set a new record for us.This trip was led by Haziq,Taufiq,Dinie and Fred .The night started out with Haziq landing a decent size Blukang on floater as the live prawn on the hook died. Next Dinie missed a couple as his floater was pulled in. Fred caught his first fish on rod and it was also a Blukang. Taufiq had a quiet night with landing two small baitfishes. The Barramundi story started with Haziq abandoning his floater to do luring instead. So Dinie and Fred decided to stay at the same spot and have a good chat about personal issues. As Haziq and Fiq came back to pack up to go home, Dinie and Fred also went up to pack. Suddenly out of the blues, Dinie turned to see his floater missing from the surface of water and his rod was bending at a huge angle. Its ON! Dinie fought the fish as it went right and left until the identity of the fish was revealed by its acrobatic leaps out of the water. Dinie shouted "Siakap!! Siakap!!" as the fish was brought to land and the hook snapped luckily not in the water. Everyone was overwhelmed by the catch as it was unexpected.The siakap's weight was 3kg. Finally...the legendary siakap has been landed! Best trip so far!!

This trip consisted of Dinie,Fariz,Irshad and Taufiq. We started out at the beach and Dinie landed some small fish. The rest of the day was dull until Taufiq caught a flower crab on the jetty.

Secret Spot Revisited

Once again we revisited the secret spot. The crew: Haziq,Dinie,Fariz,Fiq Kong a.k.a usat man,Aidil were on a mission for big fishes. The day started out great at about 10plus when Haziq's rod gave a big bend. Since Haziq was busy eating, Dinie took on the role and reeled in the fish. It was a big one as the drag was peeling off quite quickly. It gave a strong last fight near the waters edge before being subdued. A beautiful duri weighing 1kg plus was brought on land. Next action came frm Haziq's rod again when his gave another bend. Looks like the wat-wat is the killer bait as the bend is from another duri which was a bit smaller in size to the one before.Everything became quite dull and silent after that before Dinie reeled in Taufiq's rod to find a surprise ladyfish a.k.a ikan parang on the other end of the line. It was a dull trip towards the end and the weather was not in our favour. Till nxt time. Pics courtesy of Usat Man.

Secret Spot

The crew included Taufiq Kong,Haziq,Fariz and Aidil. This trip is the best so far in our history of visiting secret spot as there were plenty of fish and at good sizes as well. Haziq gt an usat within 10 sec of casting followed by a decent sized duri. Fariz never seem to disappoint with his next big catch a 1kg plus blukang followed by a gemang. Kong missed a duri as it escaped before reaching land.Aidil was also having a good time using just an aquarium net to catch tilapias at the side of the river.Gd trip in all.

Changi Carpark 5 and Saf Yatch Club

This trip consisted of Taufiq Kong,Taufiq Low,Haziq,Aidil.They went carpark 5 first where both taufiq caught pinang2 and pasir2 respectively. Pasir2 was released. Then they proceeded to Saf Yatch Club where Haziq landed a pinang2 which was a decent size and Taufiq Kong caught a puffer which was thrown back. Here are the pics.

Punggol Jetty Again!!

Two fishing trips in two days but same place. Once again this trip was at punggol jetty and this time it was Dinie and Fariz. After being in army for quite awhile, finally pop for Fariz. Congrats bro. So the day started out with us getting ready at about 3 plus. The bites came as early as the first cast but Dinie missed the fish as the line gt sangkut in some rocks. But the bad luck streak broke with a juvenile grouper which was released unharmed. As it came to about 6 plus the jetty became packed. We were further demoralised when some guy came and just commented on how dirty the water was and there were no fishes here. Bet he doesn't even own a rod to talk so much. Some anglers nxt to us broke the silence by hauling up a duri and unga tanda with their 12 foot rods. Fariz persevered on even though Dinie was getting fed up with the sangkuts. To everyone's surprise, Fariz on a 7 foot rod brought up a blue spotted ribbon tail ray which he thought was trash getting caught on his hooks. Looks like patience bear its rewards. Later on he caught a flower crab and Dinie caught a croaker. It was the highlight of all out fishing trip as it was our first ever blue spotted ribbon tail ray. Congrats Fariz!!

Punggol Jetty

This fishing trip plans were last minute as Dinie and Taufiq Kong came back frm ICA building after making new passport. Kong was planning to buy a new rod so we thought might as well go ahead with some angling good time. Haziq picked us up by car at 5.00pm and we were off to the jetty. Things picked up fast when we reached there as Kong brought up a Scat also known as Ikan Kitang. Then out of nowhere a barramundi a.k.a siakap was spotted swimming near the jetty. We tried using a whole dead prawn to entice it but to no avail. Suddenly, Dinie turned his back to see his rod bending . It took him less than a minute to bring up a good size sicklefish a.k.a tudung periuk.His first btw.haha. Haziq managed to catch a baby tiger grouper which was released unharmed and Dinie caught an small emperor snapper. The day ended with lots a usats which were released back. Great trip to remember!

Its Labour Day!! This time Dinie and Andre revisited punggol river for some angling action. We started out the day by looking for Mudcrabs but they were nowhere to be found. So we moved on to collecting Lokan ( type of Shellfish ). Next we changed spot and Andre landed a pasir2 and Gerut2. Dinie also caught a pasir2. Then it was off to the floater action where we caught a couple of the undentified fish caught before. We also managed to catch a glimpse of a water snake swallowing a fish it hunted down. Enjoyable trip in the end!

The kakis involved this time round were Irshad, Fariz, and Taufiq. It wasn't a bad trip, not as much a slow-game as Bedok Jetty would be. Not very satisfying either, because we had no luck in landing the grunters that we so much expected. But as the saying goes, there are many fishes in the sea. Fariz caught a fish just minutes after his first cast, but we're not exactly sure of its name or species, because Dinie wasn't with us(God bless him). Later in the night, wrangled among seaweeds, 2 Usats were landed.

Changi Beach Club Yet Again

Possibly our most visited spot, Changi Beach Club again managed to produce a satisfactory catch. A total of 6 Gelamas, 3 Usats, and perhaps the catch of the day: a nice-looking Duri fish hauled up by Dinie. There was nothing spectacular about the catch that day, but the anglers involved were satisfied still, particularly Dinie who landed his first marine catfish.

It has been nearly 2 months since any of our members stepped foot at the kelong walk. Within that 2 months things seem to change in terms of quantity and quality(size). Irsyad managed to haul up an unexpectedly long usat whereas the rest caught a number of usats as well. Pics of Irsyad usat below.

It was a dull trip this time. The only member who landed a fish was Taufiq. Although that, the duri he caught was a good pretty good shape. Finally his new abu is starting to be a faithful fishing companion.

The members involved were Fariz and Irshad. They came at 4pm on Saturday, 1st of March 2008 and overnite till the nxt morning. During that period Irshad landed a beautiful specimen of tudung periuk at around 10pm. He became a crowd magnet for that moment as people started surrounding him amazed at such a big fish. The nxt morning at around 7am, it was non-stop action as bites were continuous. Fariz landed a pinang2 and some unknown fish. while Irshad got a flathead. It was a good trip to be proud of in the end.

Ok people, This is our trip to Pasir Ris park togerther with Andre, Shairul n Dinie. It all started at about 4pm when Andre caught his first fish which is Helicopter, followed by the next same fish. Than when Shairul came he manage to get the same fish but smaller.. hhaha..

At about 1730hrs we all change to our secret spot where by we need to walk all the way down from batu 14. When we reach there, Dinie started to cast n manage to catch his first fis which is pari (sting-ray). After a few hours Shairul n Andre started to get fishes. Andre manage to get Sembilang(cat fish) n Shairul was two Usat.

After abt 2100hr we all started to get hungry N thanks to Mr Shairul the fire man set up a fire for us to get rid of the mosqito n flyes.. We also did cooking there too.. We cook our left over prawns n it was Super B man.. YUmmy..

A new beginning

Finally, a blog created to feature the catch of the day for every fishing trip the gang's been through. The gang members include Dinie,Andre,Shairul,Fariz,Aidil,Irsyad,Taufiq,Shawn,Faiz,Amira (Affiliations include Man and Wan). Here are the past pictures taken before this blog was created.

An okay day at pasir ris beach. Helicopter, Pasir2(Whitings),Usat and Gerut2 landed there.

A great trip to changi beach. Started out with Fariz landing a baby pari in the late afternoon. The action began in the evening when Shairul's rod and stand fell to the ground. It was sure to be a good one as he brought up a red snapper. The bell's began ringing every now and then as Shairul landed another 2 snappers the gerut2 and unga tanda(jenahak). Fariz on the other hand wasn't far behind with a russels snapper a.k.a pinang2 and a pipi tembam. it was a good day in the end.

This was Shairul's trip to sembawang. Even without the company of his members he managed to have fun hauling up good quality fish for instance the duri and also tudung periuk. The bonus part was the sri lankan crab. Cheers bro. Pics courtesy of http://www.funkywarrior.blogspot.com/.

This picture was taken during an overnight at changi beach. It was Dinie,Shairul and Man this time. The feeding frenzy began past 7pm and ended close to 2 am. The catch include a couple of snappers,helicopter,tudung periuk and a flower crab.

Taufiq and Irsyad were a happy bunch of anglers when they managed to land up to a total of 14 duri at the secret spot. Btw i believe what Taufiq quoted was right, "God is fair" .
